Weekly Trials and Tribulations of the Scenic City Chapter of the TTA

Weekly Trials. Tribulations and Photos experienced while hiking

Falling Waters 9.24.13

Falling Waters   On this misty morning there were 19 hikers.  There was a pretty heavy mist on the way to the trailhead.  Windshield wipers were required, but when we arrived the mist had stopped and it was just overcast.  A great day for hiking but lousy for picture taking.  The hike distance was about 5 miles and the trail was just beautiful.  I would rate the hike as moderate.  I did take a good fall, but no damage done.  For a few pictures, click on the Falling Waters tab above.

Sluder Lane to Mulbray Pike

9.17.13  Today there were eight hikers.  The hike was very good with no unforeseen happenstances.  A couple of the hikers went really fast and finished considerably ahead of the others.  The distance was five miles and I would rate this hike as moderate.  For a couple of pictures click on the Sluder Lane tab above.

Roaring Creek

9.14.13   Joan, Gail, Gloria, Larry, Boodie, Gary and John.  Perfect weather for a hike.  There was a nice cool breeze blowing that kept the warm weather in check.  I would rate this hike as moderate.  The distance was 8.5 miles.  Lunch was had on a beautiful bluff overlooking the Tennessee River Valley with both TVA nuclear plants in the background.  The only difficulty was yellow-jackets.  Seems the hikers disturbed a nest and several of the hikers received stings.  This put a damper on an otherwise great hike.

Camp Jordan 9.1013

Camp Jordan, 9.10.13  Beautiful day for a hike around Camp Jordan.  Today there were 10 people including one new couple.  The number of hikers is remaining steady at 8-14.  Everyone had a good time on the relatively short hike of 4.4 miles.  I would rate the hike as easy.  For a couple of pictures click on the Camp Jordan tab above.

Lula Lake

9.7.13  Lula Lake    We had several new faces on this hike.  The distance was about 5 miles.  I would rate this hike as moderate.  The weather was perfect and the hike turned out great.  Lula Lake is always popular.
