Weekly Trials and Tribulations of the Scenic City Chapter of the TTA

Weekly Trials. Tribulations and Photos experienced while hiking
12.9.13  Today the club hiked the Lower Leggett Road Loop.  It was cold and windy, but everyone had a good time.  The hike was approximately 5 miles and I would consider it moderate.  If you would like to see some pictures, click on the Lower Leggett Loop tab above.

Twin Rocks and Stinging Forks

12.7.13  On this cold and dreary day, there were only six of us.  First we hiked Twin Rocks to the overlook.  There was damage to the stairs leading to the overlook making it hard to get up.  This hike was a total of 2.2 miles.  Now it was back to the cars for a short drive to the next spot.  Then we hiked to Stinging Forks.  This was pretty much a hike down to the falls and then back up.  The distance was 1.7 miles.  Now everyone was thoroughly chilled so it was off to eat.  We chose Bimbos in Dayton and I think everyone was satisfied.  I would rate the two hikes as moderate.  To see some pictures click on the Twin Rocks and Stinging Forks tab above.

Sterchi Farms 12.3.13

Today we had 11 hikers.  The weather didn't cooperate at all.  It was overcast and foggy.  Neverless, we had a very nice hike of 7.8 miles.  The trail is easy since it is all paved or boardwalk.  Portions of the boardwalk were very slippery.  We went all the way in both directions, including the short hill climb on the east end.   We were surrounded by chirping birds, but we saw very few.  If you would like to see a few pictures, click here, or on the Sterchi Farms tab above.

Chickamauga Battlefield

11.30.13    Today, we had eight hikers.  It was a beautiful day for a six mile hike.  Several deer were seen.  I would rate this hike as easy.  For a few pictures, click here.

Sluder Lane to Deep Creek.

11.23.13    Today we had nine hikers.  It was cold and windy.  There was no rain, but it was very damp.  The leaves had all fallen so the trail was pretty well covered up and pretty treacherous.  The leaves covered holes and were very slippery.  The group reached the site of the new bridge construction No sign of any other crazy hikers today!  The total distance was 6.5 miles and I would rate the hike as severe.  To see a few pictures, click here.
