Weekly Trials. Tribulations and Photos experienced while hiking
Savage Gulf - Canyon Rim Trail
2.26.11 George, John, Earl and members of the Murfreesboro Chapter. The drive to Savage Gulf took about an 80 minutes. It was an absolutely perfect day for hiking. The sky was a deep blue and the temperature was just right. In fact a few people thought it was a little warm and even light jackets were being removed. We took a short detour to The Stone Door which was perfect for inspecting. Just about everyone went down the steps and huffed and puffed their way back up. We then journeyed to several overlooks which on the day had exquisite views of the surrounding canyons. Of course after winding our way along the edge of the canyon, we had to take the less scenic but still beautiful back way to the departure site. I think everyone enjoyed this hike. The distance was 7.4 miles and I would rate this trail as easy. For pictures, click on the Canyon Rim Trail tab or click here.
