Weekly Trials. Tribulations and Photos experienced while hiking

Lula Lake 3.2.13

Today we had 11 hikers.  SNOW!  Last night it snowed on the mountain which made for an absolutely beautiful hike.  Everything was white!  The snow was the type that hung on the trees and bushes but left the trail uncovered.  Down near the falls, the temperature was pretty cold, but for the most part the it was OK.  The temperature hung in the mid thirties.  There were surprising numbers of people about.  When we first arrived, we were the only ones, but as we left, the lot had many cars.  Total distance of this hike was 4.4 miles and I would rate the hike as moderate.  For some pictures of the snow, click on the Lula Lake tab above.  All in all it was a great hike.

Harrison Bay 2.26.13

Today there were 12 hikers.  This was surprising since it was a cold blustery day with scattered drizzle. This 4.5 mile hike is always enjoyable since it is relatively flat.  I would rate it as easy.  The hike was uneventful except that we did lose a pair of ear muffs.  A couple of the hikers turned around at the halfway point and went back to look, but they failed miserably and no muffs were found.  If you would like to see a couple pictures, click on the Harrison Bay tab above.

Athens Regional Park

2.25.13  McBob, Earl, Nance Jo   This was an impromptu hike taken on a Monday.  We decided to explore this trail since we new about it but had never been on it.  It is approximately a one hour drive.  It was cooler than expected and overcast upon our arrival and remained overcast the entire time.  The trail is quite nice and easy to follow.  I would rate the trail as easy.  The length of the trail is posted as 3.1 miles, but three GPS's averaged about 2.6 miles.  If you would like to see a couple of pictures, click on the Athens Regional Park tab above.
