Weekly Trials and Tribulations of the Scenic City Chapter of the TTA
Weekly Trials. Tribulations and Photos experienced while hiking
1.19.13 Nance Jo, Gail, Kathy, George, John, Earl and a group from the Plateau Chapter. There were a total of 15 people on this hike! What a perfect day for a hike. After a week of solid rain everyone was ready for this one. We all hiked to the Possum Creek bridge. There, while I took a couple of pictures, the group split. The water was really roaring at Possum Creek! Some were going to continue on and others were going to head back. Unfortunately, while taking a couple of pictures, everyone left without me. I looked around for a while but couldn't determine which path the groups had taken. Therefore I started back. Finally, we made phone contact with everyone and got it all squared away. This shows the importance of keeping track of everyone. My bad! We didn't see any wild life, but on the way out we did see several other groups of hikers. It's good to see others using the trails. Just as we finished the hike we ran into TC and Judy which was a pleasant surprise. They had just finished looking at the Sandhill Cranes. Both are doing really well. I would rate this hike as severe depending on how far you go. Nance Jo, Kathy and I only did 3 miles, but it was tiring. The rest of the group continued on so I don't know just how far they got. The plan was to about 10 miles total. If you would like to see a few pictures click on the Heiss Mtn. tab above. The last 34 pictures are courtesy of Cheryl Heckler! Thank you Cheryl.
Fall Creek Falls
1.5.2013 Nance Jo, Joan, Gail, Bob, George and John I don't have much information about this hike other than it was damp. I did get a couple of pictures and I think the hikers had a good time. If I get more information I will post it to this blog. I would rate this as moderate. I don't have the distance of this hike yet. If you would like to see the two pictures I have, click on the Fall Creek Falls tab above. 1.16.2013 added three photos from Nance Jo. Of course, after they finished the hike they ate at the Bar-b-que restaurant in Pikesville.
