Weekly Trials. Tribulations and Photos experienced while hiking
Glenn Falls, 10.15.13
Glenn Falls I wasn't on this hike, but it was a beautiful day for a hike. It got a little warm in the afternoon, but not bad. Today we had 15 hikers which is a very good turnout. Unfortunately, there was only a trickle of water going over the falls since we have had a relatively dry spell recently. I would rate this hike as moderate. Heiss Mountain to Little Possum Creek.
8.12.13 George, Boddie, Gary, Tony, John. The distance of this hike was 7 miles and I would rate it as severe. The weather was great and the hike went well. For a couple of pictures, click on the Heiss Mountain tab above.
Stringers Ridge
10.8.13 On this hike there were 8 people. The hike was easy and went for 3.3 miles. It was a great day for a hike and everyone enjoyed the opening of the park. Many pictures were taken at the overlook of downtown Chattanooga. To see a few pictures click on the first tab, Stringers Ridge at the top of the page.
Mushroom Rock
10.01.13 If I counted correctly, we had 18 hikers on todays hike. Before we left, it was drizzly, but by the time we reached the hike start, it was sunny and perfect. As you can see, there is an American Chestnut tree, which is highly endangered, right at the edge of the parking area. The hike was short and went very well. No fall downs or fall outs. After this short hike we had lunch at a local BBQ place. I would rate this hike as easy-moderate. The length was 2.5 miles.
North Chickamauga
North Chick Loop Great day for a hike. The weather was perfect as you can see from the pictures. The hike was early enough so that everyone finished before it got too hot. Everyone had a good time and there was even time for a snack at one of the overlooks. To see some pictures click on the North Chick tab above.
