River Walk 10.23.12

10.23.12  Sandra, Sarah, Nance Jo, Earl, George.  Absolutely a perfect day for a walk along the river.  Since there were so few of us, we decided to turn the hike into a walk and bird-watch.  I got a couple of real good pictures of a mocking bird and we saw many other kinds of birds.  George is quite familiar with local birds and helped us a great deal in identification.  After the meal, we went to The Boathouse for lunch and had some great conversation.  The total distance of the hike was only 2.6 miles and rated as very easy.  If you would like to see a couple pictures, click HERE or on the River Walk tab above.

Roaring Creek

10.16.12  Caroline, Nance Jo, Sarah, Renee, Donna, Roger, Boodie, McBob, George, Larry, Ed, Earl  What a perfect day for a hike!  It started out cool and warmed up to maybe 70F.  Roaring Creek was full of water and really "roaring".  It was beautiful.  The first mile of the hike is pretty flat following along the creek.  Then the trail moves away from the creek and climbs for about another mile.  Nobody else was using the trail so we had it all to ourselves.  There were several trees down that we had to either cut our way through or climb over.  Their location was noted so that the rangers could come back and cut them down.  Once we reached the end of the trail we had a great sunshiny view over the valley.  We could really see a great distance.  The distance of this hike was 4.6 miles and I would rate it as moderate.  For a few pictures click HERE or on the Roaring Creek tab above.

Misc. Pictures Sept. - Oct.

Sept-Oct.  Here are some pictures provided by George.  If you went on a like during this period, check out the pictures.  You are probably in one.  If you just want to see how good your memory is have a look at these pictures and see if you can recognize where they were taken.  If you want to look at the pictures, click HERE or on the Misc. tab above.

Laurel Falls

9.2.12   Sarah, Donna, Renee, Earl, Ed, George, McBob  Overcast all day, but no rain.  We had a great time and nobody fell while traversing the rocky area.  There was lots of water in the creek and going over the falls which made it very pretty.  I would rate the hike as moderate and I think we went about 4.2 miles. For some pictures, click HERE or on the Laurel Falls tab above.

Greenway Farms

9.25.12  Amy, Gail, Donna, Sarah, Renee, Shirley, Nance Jo, George, Earl, McBob, Ed.  Beautiful day for a hike and a good group of people.  The hike was rated as moderate due to a section of the Boy Scout Trail.  Not much to say about the hike except that the pictures are overexposed due to an incorrect camera setting on my part.  The distance was about 5 miles.  For a couple of pictures please click on the Greenway farms tab above or HERE.
