Bridge Building
4.2.2011 John, Nance Jo, Earl, Tony & several members of a Boy Scout Troop that were working on their badges. The project was to work on constructing a bridge over a contributory stream to Board Camp Creek. The troop was to do most of the work with with the adults as being the supervisors. The trees had already been cut and de-barked. We built the pedestals for the trees on each side of the creek and then moved the trees into position using a come-along. After positioning the trees they were secured with all thread, nuts and washers. The bare trees were then coated with a fence paint designed to seal the wood. Treads and steps will be put in place on the next work day. The weather was perfect. The hiking distance was roughly 3/4 mile each way and I would rate it as easy.
